SHOPPINGQuick shopping / small stores (= Alimentario) can be found in Vasia or Pantasina. Both are open from 7:30 AM in the summer, with a lunch break, and then remain open until 7:30 PM in the evening (subject to change, as this varies with the season and time of year and is only a guideline). Oh yes, there's also an Alimentario in Prela di Molini...The one in Pantasina is more pleasant and slightly larger, but unfortunately, it is also a bit further away. Rolls (Panini), bread (Pane rustico or Ciabatta) can be pre-ordered for the next day. Both Alimentari locations also offer a selection of vegetables, cold cuts/cheese/dairy products. The one in Pantasina also features local olive oil and even organic products.
Medium-sized shopping: in Dolcedo, there's a butcher, another Alimentario, and Wednesday mornings "market": but that just means a travelling vendor comes and you can buy (good) vegetables, etc. from the truck.
Large shoppingCONAD in Porto Maurizio. Via Giuseppe Airenti, 5. Unfortunately, the fruit/vegetable selection isn't particularly high quality. Still very practical because it's directly on the road to Porto Maurizio when coming from the Vasia direction.PAM: Several rather smaller supermarkets. Fruit/vegetables are medium-good, while the rest is mostly quite okay.CARREFOUR: big advantage: open 24 hours (you read that right). It's quite a nice supermarket, cheese and meat are pre-packaged outside of normal hours (so it has a self-service cheese and meat counter). Overall selection is very good. Address: Via Raffaele Gianetti 4, Imperia (=Oneglia)COOP: recommended. It's smaller than CONAD, but with individual selection and better fruit/vegetables. However, it's further away from Torretta in Oneglia, address Via XXV Aprile, 67, Imperia. You can also park there easily (including in the parking garage). We are members (a card is located in the kitchen drawer with the instructions), and with it, things become significantly cheaper on Wednesdays (approximately 10%), but not necessarily on other days. Please just don't accidentally take the card home with you...ORGANIC STORE: There's also one near the train station on the one-way street Via Argine desstro 111. Prices are similar to those in Germany, possibly more expensive for items that are more expensive in Italy than in Germany (such as milk and dairy products).
By the way, olive oil is best bought at one of the three oil mills in Pantasina. We think. The mills are each located on the road, two in the village, one before or after (direction Prela di Molini)
RESTAURANTSIce cream
I Gelati de Fe, Via Ludovico Maresca 14, Imperia (Oneglia): Best ice cream in the world when they have ricotta/basil or Torta della Nonna, which unfortunately isn't always the case.
Pasta
Filled pasta (= Ravioli etc. for cooking yourself): Pasta Fresca Paola, Piazza S. Giovanni 4, Imperia (Oneglia)
Coffee
Jolly Caffè, Via Vittoria Alfieri 33/B, Imperia (Oneglia). Best: mixture Bar Dolce (with 80% Arabica). Or buy a mixture SuperBar at Elena roastery in Sanremo.
